I shot this four-image pano this morning of the Flat Irons in Boulder at sunrise, but it just doesn't look sharp to me. I know my original 5D would look a lot better than this! What gives?
P.S. Was anyone else out there capturing this scene?

There's so many steps between capture and your post here it's hard to say, but this is definitely very soft. How about trying a single test shot manually focused?

Seriously? OK, is this a 2% crop of your real pano? Or 1MP mode?

You got me too...I was thinking if it's this bad I'll never get a 5d2!

Ha! I was thinking, "What is up with that?!"
But, yes, I was there at sunrise this morning (just barely, due to traffic). I saw a few others scattered around, mostly near the parking lot. Nice morning!

I recommend using your focus (either manual or auto) and not coughing on the front of your lens before shooting.

I think vaseline abuse needs reporting here

Todd, I suggest you send the camera to me so I can shoot a series of test shots; I may need a couple of months to ascertain the problem

I can't tell you how unbelievable it was. I had to go there for work this morning and I arrived about 15 minutes before sunrise. The part in "your photo" is not even the good part. Anybody see Art Wolfe's- Travels to the Edge series? Particularly the one about Japan? When he was on Honshu (I think) and the mountains looked like etchings he said. Well that's what they looked like. Then the pink hit them just before the sun came up. And very regretably, no I did not have my camera with me.

So, just where is this taken from?

This looks just fine to be. I get the same results. Sadly, until they start getting better quality web cams, we'll just have to keep leaving our houses to get the shots.

Todd, cloud movement might have caused the oof for clouds. Also, wondering if you had image stabilizer turned on.

Im having softness issues as well--but not on all shots, just some--which makes me think its just extremely sensitive to movement--im using the remote more and getting better results. Also am considering trying out some primes.
