Whilst waiting for a Grass Snake this Adder popped its head out. This beautiful Snake was only a foot or so away. At that moment the Grass Snake came by but there was no way I could move back.
A lovely camo shot. Pity about the branch going across but not much you could do about that. The colours and foliage really suit the image of the Adder.

Beautiful composition Marcus makes the image IMO,also the colours too with the eye being the only other colour outside of the different shades of brown, very nice

Nice encounter and well recorded. It's a male and by the looks of things is about to head into it's final shed before hibernation. Albeit very late and it might even stay in that state and lose it when he re-emerges in spring. Thanks for sharing.
That heavy bracken stalk is really annoying and detracts from a cracking image. Love the composition, colours etc Marcus but try and get rid of that stalk (see Ian Butlers Ring Ouzel post).
