Just got this from the Pisgah NF ranger who manages my photo workshop permit:
"Taylor and Murphy Construction will close the outside lane in two (2) short section 100' - 175' on Davidson River Road paved section west of the Pisgah Fish Hatchery due to the slides along that section of Davidson River Road. The slides were inspected following the Sept 09 rain storms by NFs-NC Engineer Staff and deemed to be dangerous to traffic.
Murphy and Taylor Construction will haul in approximately 25 Jersey
concrete barriers on Friday Oct 30 and place them around each slide area completely blocking the outside lane. They will install traffic warning signs along FSR 475 notifying travelers that a one lane road is ahead.
We do not as of yet have a timeline yet for repairs on the slides."
