Halloween Moonrise
Decided that the (near) full moon rising tonight would be a good shot for Halloween night. I was able to catch the moon rising as the last of the sun went down and the colors just kept getting better and better as the evening went..

I owe this shot to Wayne who showed me the software program, the Photographers Ephemeriis http://stephentrainor.com/tools/ which I used to find this location for the moon rise tonight. Thanks Wayne!

And this is a shot from later in the evening.

I think I like the position of the moon in the first one better -- the trees seem to be reaching toward the moon -- but the colors in the second are richer. Both shots are outstanding.

Scott, both are really good, but the second one is my favorite. Thanks for the link to the software.

It would be hard to choose one over the other so just print them both and hang them side by side! Really nice work on both counts! :toast:

p.s. Glad the info on TPE is proving helpful. I was just getting ready to use it myself but stopped by CSNP first. Now where will it be tomorrow?

Both are really nice Scott I think the second is more dramatic though and my fave of the two. That looks like a cool program. I'll have to check it out. Thanks

Very well done on both shots Scott. Great location too. The first one is my favorite due to he position of the moon and the inclusion of more of the plants at the bottom.

I like the wispy clouds around the moon and the position of the moon better in the first. The second shot is a nice graphic image with the darker silhouette and bolder colors. I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite because both are outstanding.

Great work Scott, I seem to be drawn to the first shot a little more. I really like the glow showing on the tree trunks and as mentioned the wisps of clouds around the moon is really cool.

Scott, I like the second one the best because of the nice color gradient in the sky.

I have used TPE before as well, and find that it works well in an area that you are already familiar with. I tried to use it this past week in AZ and Utah but since I was not exactly sure where I could get to it wasn't quite as helpful but still a neat program.

both are great, I lean towards the first only because of the moon position and extra light, the colors in the second are wonderful

Both are superb, Scott. I love the wisps of clouds in the first one, but the rich color in the second one is pretty nice too. Why decide one one - just print them both!

Nice shots, Scott. I like the warm light in the first one.
