A tiny rotation to the left and this would be perfect, Maggie.  A really excellent image of one of my favourite British mammals. I wish there were some here in the brook near my house.

Very nice Maggie

I agree with David as regards to a bit of rotation, you see what drinking during the days results in

CCW rotation nit covered and the head isn't truly in the plane of sharpness - your D80 has focused on the log. Your new toy will give you greater latitude in focus sensor selection to aid these well off-center compositions.

Nice shot all the same... :wavey:

The head isn't so sharp as it is eating, the surrounding vegetation is sharp, they chew so very fast, so to get a crisp shot you need to wait until they pause or use a very fast shutter speed, last year I spent weeks photographing voles, and the first batch of shots were a waste of time for this reason.

At first I thought it must be camera shake or something I had set wrong, but as the surroundings were sharp its the only answer I had left, a little further time and study with the voles proved the point.

Over all nice shot, rotation as suggested, you could try a layer mask to sharpen the vole slightly to see if it would work.

Nice on Maggie, would have loved to go there, had we had another day around.
Minor nit on the CCR mentioned,

@Danny: Kato seems to have travelled on the ferry with us.

Thanks everyone for C & C.

Danny last time I saw him Kato was well but not so sure now according to Marijin. Looks like he might have boarded the ferry. Probably in Amsterdam red light district as we speak
