Part 2 of our discussion will be recorded in the coming week to answer questions Lightroom 3 beta users post on my blog (see the link above).
If you've ever wanted a direct line to ask Adobe questions on their Lightroom product now is your chance.
Enjoy! Thanks for your participation and spread the word.

Jim,
Thanks for the podcast. I heard some interesting info. However, my big questions are: Since I'm running CS4, is there any advantage to also running Lightroom? Is there anything in Lightroom that I don't have in CS4? Is Lightroom really a "lite" version of CS4?
Lightroom is also a catalog program which Bridge/CS4 is not. Lightroom is not capable of layering as CS4 is capable of.

Adobe has done an absolutely brilliant job in marketing a 'lite' version of Photoshop!
There is nothing in Lightroom that I cannot achieve using Photoshop/ACR/Bridge.
I will concede that LR may have a more robust cataloging function for those who shoot hundreds of images at a go, but most certainly not worth an additional $300 for a cataloging app.
On the other hand, I can do quite a bit more in Photoshop than Lightroom (Adjustment Layers, Masking, blending images, use of actions, etc., etc.).
For me, the ideal combination would be Lightroom and PS Elements. If you already own CS4, then there's simply no valid reason to spend $300 on Lightroom.

Thanks for your comments on CS4 vs. Lightroom. I had a feeling that I wouldn't gain anything by adding Lightroom. Now I can put that money to acquiring a 5D.
