Still going through the images from the fall outing. Not only does this one summarize the color we had on that particular weekend, but to me, this little scene represents my own impressions of this area - typical scene in the Eastern Sierra. This is along the June Lake Loop on the north/west side of the road near the Aerie Crag picnic area.

I have been spying this little scene for many, many years and finally decided to actually get out the gear. It's not going to bowl anyone over, but I think it's simply typical.

Here's a slightly cropped and larger version. Do you have a preference?

Thanks!
Lon

Lon, this is a simple yet very nice image. I like it. It very much represents the typical scene on the east side and does it very well. A very solid image. I like the richness of the colors, especially the pastel shades in the brush with the striking greens of the aspens. It works. I like the uncropped version presented above more than the cropped one.

Print it, Lon! This is beautiful. This may be a 'typical' East Side occurrence, but this image is anything but 'typical! I totally agree with Harley's observations.

Lon, very pleasing image. The setting presents a nice contrast between the grasses and the trees. The colors are subtle. I prefer the uncropped image because it gives a better feel for the scene. Best Regards.

Lon -- A beautiful image...I really like the foreground color here. For me this version is my preference. While both have aspects that I enjoy, it is the upper left corner here that makes the difference. Seeing this bit as Michael says give a better feel for the scene/area.

Best regards -- Bishop

Lon, I also prefer the un-cropped version on this one. Very well named with a "typical" view of the Eastern Sierra look overall. Hard for me to tell this early in the morning, but is that a big black rock, if so it must be obsidian maybe?

At first I liked the cropped version but I've since changed my mind. Some of the other comments made me rethink my position. This may be a typical image but it still is very effective with excellent depth.

Excellent capture of the typical Eastern Sierra transition zones. I like the uncropped version because it includes those conifers as both a balance to that dark fg rock and an subtle identifier of the region. I initially thought that dark fg rock might be obsidian, but looking at the larger version it doesn't necessarily look like it. Good stuff!
