Things are a little slow on the forum, so I figured I post something from my recent trip to Utah. This peak sunset last just a few minutes and then the lightning started. It was beautiful...

Really awesome shot, Aaron! I love the light on the left canyon wall and the detail in the valley. I can't wait to see this printed really big!

nice composition-I like the placement of the sun, about 1/3 in and 1/3 down. Are you going to submit it to AZ Highways?

This is nice Aaron, I like what you've done. The light one the left rock face captures my attention as much as anything.

Of course, very nice shot.
What program did you use for the HDR? I have Photomatix and sometimes the "Overlay" works even better than the HDR. I've not done much with 5, 7 or 9 photos. Lots of RAW space !!!!!!!!! for one photos, eh? Sometimes it is worth it as it was on this capture.
Would like your input:
How much better is 5 ,7 or 9 photos than 3?
Program used.
Thanks,
the fisch

Excellent Aaron.
We just returned from a trip that included the north rim of GC.

Larry, I used Photomatix for this. I've tried using photoshop for HDR's, but Photomatix is way better. I say shoot about 6-7 initially. It does seem like the more you add, the more likely it won't turn out as sharp. I bet if the exposures were perfect less shots would be better.

Your photos convinced me to buy Photomatix. Thank you!

Aaron,
People who use HDR often "go over the top" and a comic book appearance is the result.
I've not done much in Photomatix but sometimes the overlay feature does better for me with 3 exposures. I'm going to try more exposures and compare.
Thanks for the feed back. Photomatix is generally receiving favorable comments.

That's what I call being at the right place at the right time with the right equipment and right skills and sensibilities to get a great shot. Excellent work, Aaron.
