"Treerat"
Just back from a shot holiday in the New Forest with my family. Beautiful area with a lot of wildlife, of which the Grey Squirrel is one. It's seen everywhere, but as I understand, it's also an animal that isn't very popular with quite a number of people in the UK. Some people even call them treerats. For me and my children they're just adorable little creatures and we enjoyed watching them very much.
Nikon D80 @ 420 mm, iso 250, f 6.3, 1/80 sec on tripod. Cropped from landscape to portrait.

I don't think anybody would deny they are cute, Sandra. It is the damage they have caused to native wildlife, especially red squirrels, that many of us dislike. Nice shot though, and I do like the alert pose.

A successful beast for sure, such is the way of nature, nice shot like the compostion and eye contact.

Nice shot Sandra and I think a tighter crop might be more effective in this case.

Nice pose and textures, I'd personally keep the crop as is as the autumnal colours are appealing :toast:

Don't really like squirrels for reasons already stated - but this is a wonderful shot. A lovely composition. :toast:

I see you have added some canvas at the bottom, and cloned the pic on down(stands out abit).Well i was going to suggest taking some OFF the bottom, so he's just abit lower in the frame. To give an even better comp.

Other than that i like it :toast:

In the UK grey's are classed as vermin and reds are protected, up here in the northeast you see more of them in the butchers shop than in tree's, there is an active culling program in force and the reds are multiplying because of it.

I think I agree with the crop idea, although I do like the autumn coloured leaves in the shot too.

Thank everone for the comments so far.
@ Alan; Yes your right about the added canvas. It was done very sloppy (well visible) because it was a test version. And I posted this version by mistake. Nevertheless thanks for the tighter crop suggestion. I will certainly try it.

I like the crop as it shows the squirrel as it is so often seen, dodging around the trees. I would liked to have seen some tail in the image but then you 'takes what you gets' Incidentally, they taste better than rabbit but not as much meat !

Appealing subject matter Sandra regardless of what its classification is. As mentioned a bushy tail would have added greatly to it but youve done well without.
