Well, I've finally finished processing my Iceland pics and thought I'd post a few.

The first one is an Arctic Tern, chick, crying for food.
This is a puffin.

Great stuff Don, looks like a fantastic trip! How long did you go for?

I've been looking forward to seeing these every since we met last summer. Excellent collection Don! My favorites are the first puffin photo, really like the green foreground contrasting with the puffin. The Gulfoss shots are very nice, particularly the first one. You got some nice light on the falls and the rainbow is a bonus. That is an amazing waterfall, especially when viewed from the air. Don't know if you were aware, but awhile back they approved a dam to be built downstream and the resulting lake would have covered this waterfall. At the 11th hour public outcry stopped the plans.

Fantastic stuff here, Don! The tern shot and the first puffin shot look like magazine covers. Looks like you had a really productive, and I'll bet really fun, trip.

Fantastic wildlife and landscape set, Don. I enjoyed everyone of them.

Every single one of these is spectacular!
No way will I even try to choose a favorite. I'd also like to know how long you spent there. Did you tour the island solo or with a guide? Did you soak in some hot springs?
Thanks a lot for sharing these inspiring images!

Fantastic waterfall shots Don. I like all the mist you encountered, must have been a challenge to keep your lens clean. Nice work overall!

Can't pick a favorite in this collection. Wonderful stuff, Don!

Just a whole alotta good here Don-I found the image referred to as "another bergy bit" very compelling. It looks like miniature creatures jostling.

Wonderful shots, Don. Another place I must go. So many and so little time, eh?

Don, these are incredible! Love the waterfall shots the best, but very hard to choose a favorite out of so many great shots! Wish i had that transportation....looks kind of fun
Some of your best photography, in my opinion...awesome, awesome shots! I love the beach/ice shot, but it's hard to pick a favorite.

WOW!!! These are some of the finest shots I've ever seen.... so much detail and life in the bird images and the falls images are amazing as well. Great detail in the ice shots too!

Thanks everyone.
I spent two weeks there. We were on our own, with only a guidebook and some earlier internet research. We rented a pickup truck/camper shell unit, which meant we could go where we wanted with no reservations anywhere to pressure us into being at a particular place on a particular day. We drove around the Ring Road plus a couple of hundred miles of roads that diverged from the main Ring Road. The people were very friendly, and all spoke English flawlessly. Carrying around expensive camera equipment was never a problem and at times I didn't even bother to lock the truck, even if I was a half mile away for a couple of hours.
We did use municipal swimming pools to shower and bathe in; all of them are geothermally heated and in amazing condition. It seems swimming is a very popular past time there, since every small town had a pool.
