Not the greatest GBH shot, but I thought it was passable at the least. This was taken at Lincoln Memorial Gardens here in Springfield. At first I had my 10-20mm lens on my camera when this guy popped out, and I figured he wouldn't stick around long enough for me to swap lenses. After watching him for a couple minutes, I decided I'd try anyways and managed to get this with my 28-105mm lens. Hoping to get some better pictures of these guys when my 80-400mm Tokina lens comes in this Thursday

Anyways, I realize the quality isn't the greatest but I welcome all C+C regardless. I also plan on posting a little more since my schedule this semester is finally starting to wind down.

Canon Digital Rebel XSi
Canon EF 28-105
1/8 sec (yeah, kinda slow)
f/11
ISO 100

This is a nice bird in his/her environment shot, but the light and shadows are working against the main subject. Some fill flash might have helped bring the bird out a bit more. but I do like the feel of the scene overall.

Very nice, natural type shot. In my experience they are one of the most skittish birds. Cool that you had time to change lenses. How far away were you? Have Fun with the new glass!

Nathaniel..
Nice shot. Where were you standing? Looks like you might have been in the water.

Thanks for the comments. I was about 40 feet away on the very edge of the water. I think this image is about a 50% crop of the original.

I really like the inclusion of the habitat here. Gives this an entirely different dimension to this image.

I like your photo. Didn't even know this place was there. I will have to visit, but will wait until spring.
