I want to thank everyone who gave me tips on where to shhot during a recent business trip to San Diego. I ended up with more time so I drove to Anza-Borrego and had a wonderful day and evening. I'll be back in February, hopefully to catch the wild flowers. I ended the night at Clark Dry Lake and it felt very wild... I think I was the only one within miles. I ended up having great light too, but I took a self portrait and I hope it conveys a sense of how wonderful this Florida boy felt... Cheers to all... if you are ever coming to Florida, let me know.
Glad you had a great trip to California! When your plans for your next trip firm up, give us a holler and we'll help you out. If you let us know where you'll be in advance, some of the folks may be able to link up with you.
-Cheers,

CANP is a great source to find some info Reed and I'm glad your trip went well. The shot in ESS from here you posted is very nice.

Reed,
Glad to hear you had a nice trip and thanks for taking the time to post a note back here. That's one of the great benefits of this online community (not just CANP...) is to have all these great resources and folks willing to help out with information.
Good to hear all went well, Reed. I suspect the terrain in Anza Borrego was a bit different then Florida.

Looks like you found a great place for some peace and solitude. Nice self-portrait. It is still amazing to me how much open desert there still is in so. cal.
Glad you had a good trip, Reed. What's that big hairy creature ruining this nice landscape? Post this in the wildlife forum!

that's good Jeffrey.;.. my family has a geotag team and we're called the Maniac Bushmen... the name came about because my nieces and nephews always called me the bushman, partly because of the hair and partly for my love for wild places... and once my son picked up an old, much-hairier photo of me and turned to my wife and said with awe...."Dad was a maniac!"... hence the name... so anyways.... I'm used to the humor :)
