Blue Bamboo
Just when I was beginning to despair that it is so dark and barren outside right now, I came upon this clump of "blue bamboo" in the Arboretum in Golden Gate Park. My wife, who was a docent there several years ago, tells me it is an extremely rare type of bamboo and that this is the only specimen in North America. The new shoots are blue before they turn brown. The colors are crazy....I didn't do much to these photos.

Tony, very interesting looks. I prefer the third image out of the three for overall photographic viewing, both aesthetically as well as technically.

Tony, I like the color in the first one with the blue shoot. I prefer the third one from a compositional standpoint.

Beautiful colors in the first. I played a bit with cropping the top 1/5 of the top image. I like the composition of the third image as well.

Cool blue tones on that bamboo... never seen anything like it. And I really enjoy the rhythm and composition captured in that last image... very nice!
