Empire Pigeon
I have a couple of hours to kill as i wait for my wife to finish a course that she is on in New York so am processing some images that i have taken the past few days, I have done the touristy bits like going up the Empire State building etc and have been to Jamaica bay, This was taken on the 86th floor viewing platform at the state building,I know the horizon is a little out so will do a proper edit when i get home tomorrow

Nikon D3 14-24
1/250@F11 -1/3
ISO 400

Great stuff Dave ( especially as there's a 3D week on channel 4 over here !)
Cheers

Certainly something different. Would have preferred it if you could have just got one pigeon in the shot but thats just a personal view. :toast:

I like the continuous leading line from the channel/fluting in the stone stone channel through the Avenue to the distant high rises. Well seen or a lucky break

I tend to agree the single LH pigeon would have given a stronger image re-enforcing this leading line, but you can only take what you got.

Needs a HDR treatment when you have more time to control the sky a bit better

Great idea but it doesnt really work for me. I'm not keen on the main bird looking out of shot whilst the other bird is looking away from you and also that sky is just a bit undercooked as it is. Perhaps Mike's PP HDR treatment will make a difference.

I think it has mostly been said, there is a little more work to do when you get this one home, but it is very different to the norm on this site. We don't often get cityscapes for starters. On that basis alone, well done for something original.

I really like this Dave, apart from the wonky horizon everything else works for me, the interest of the foreground bird in the camera as opposed to the unbothered/unaware of the photographer pose of the background bird conveys just how inquisitive and well adapted to city life these birds are, this great image really benefits from the second bird being in it in my opinion.
