Tom Kennon suggested i check out this area at the fall gathering, so i made a point to get out to it. I planned to take in the sunrise at Brushheap mountain too, but by the time i got to the top clear skies had turned to overcast and howling winds.

This is a 4 image HDR panorama of the upper part of the area.

Nice image, Jon. The water looks nice and clear - looks like it would be a neat place to snorkel.

Looks like a neat area to explore. Appears you might want to straighten it a bit. It is tilting towards the left, unless it's my tired eyes.

looks good, except for the tilt as Amanda mentioned

I 3rd or 4th the straightening vote. No reason to do all the work for HDR and then not level out...

And I bet you can bring out more color, esp. in the pool, the large rock and the left gravel bar.

Nice image, Jon. You did well with the HDR. There is so much to explore in this area. How long did it take you to hike in to this spot?

This looks like an interesting area. Where exactly is it?

Two weeks ago my sons and I started hiking towards this awesome area, but we stopped to enjoy the beauty at the first river access downstream and could not pull ourselves away to continue hiking upstream.

Your shot does a good job of capturing so many of the features of Winding Stairs. The huge boulder, the green pools, the bluffs, and the steep hillsides downstream. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, what a beautiful scene Jon. It looks like a person could spend a long time here. Nice work!

Tom- I think it took me about 45 minutes to hike in/out but i did make stops along the way. The trail is pretty easy, the only hard part was the river crossing that was a little over knee deep.

Aaron- the trailhead is located just outside of the albert pike campground on FR 106. I passed several groups camping and it looks like the area gets a lot of use.

I reworked the photo last night as a non HDR, straightening it up and such that i think looks much better. Im not sure how to reply with an image in the reply so here is just a url.

Thanks for all the comments/criticism, cant believe i didnt catch the tilt.

Much better Jon on the 2nd pic. I like the way you brought the colors out now. Good job.
