Took a drive over to the Painted Hills Unit - John Day Fossil Beds over the weekend and caught some nice late afternoon light.

You did! The colors are great and I like the interplay of the shadows with the lit areas. That was worth the drive!

Thanks, Geoff - appreciate the comments! It was a wonderful afternoon as the light was great and really emphasized the contours and colors of the hills. As usual, I had the place to myself until about an hour before sunset when another photographer showed up to catch the action.
Thanks again,

_Very_ nice Marcy. Love the tight abstract, and you did catch some special light.

Thanks, John - appreciate the comments. I always enjoy going to the Painted Hills in late afternoon and during storms, and one of my favorite things about them is the different ways I can find to capture the wonderful contours of the hills. (I was a geology major in college so this is a favorite area for me).
Thanks again,

Cool! My brother is a geological engineer for the State of Nebraska.
This is special. Love the comp-- how you used long telephoto to great advantage to create such a nice abstract with interesting detail. Of course the light playing with the landscape is really a magical part of the image too.

Thanks, Catherine - that's one thing I really like about the Painted Hills - there is so many opportunities for tight abstract images of the contours, colors, etc. Great way to stretch your imagination!
