In a Golden State
This is from last June in the hills above Simi Valley. Hopefully the hills will start turning green soon, but I really like the golden grass of summer as well. I figure we have three seasons in southern California; summer, brushfire season, and mudslide season.
Thanks for looking and comments.

My first reaction is "less is more". It's clear where the center of interest is.
The pastel colors in the sky really make this work. I like the simplicity.
Well done, Rudy.

A very simple and effective composition, Rudy. I have to agree with your seasonal call on So Cal as well.

Rudy,

Great cloud/sky and I like the placement of the tree. This is quite "California" with the golden hue of the hills. I don't know about down south, but the rains we had a few weeks ago have already kickstarted the grasses. There are hints of green on the hills up here. And I had always thought there were only two seasons: green and brown. But I like your seasonal classifications as well. :-)

Nice image.

Awesome sky, I think the yellow adds some good contrast to the oaks. We can fit 2 days of fall in that brushfire season and 2 more of winter in mudslide season. I remember that day it snowed in Malibu last winter or when ever that was. Drove up there just to touch it, it wasn't real though.

Lon, the rain did give a noticeable change where we're brown but it went back brown again except for the chapparel.

Nice simple comp and fine sky. Nice job holding detail in the tree without blowing out the sky.

I'm still laughing about your seasonal descriptions as I type. Colors, comp and exposure all look good here. Nice work!
