I am looking for a portable printer (like the Epson photo mate) for some event printing. I have a Rotary Club Christmas party with Santa Claus and about 50 kids and would like to provide pictures for the kids and their parents. Is this a good option from your experience or is there a better option that you may have?

Hey Jeff, I own a bunch of different epsons, and they are the best. If you're looking to go less expensive, about $90.00, I use a Epson 280 for workshops and it does realy nice prints up to 8.5 X 11s. if you want up to 13X19 the 1400 does an excellent job and I've seen it for under $200.00.

The problem with printers like the Photomate and others mentioned is print speed. They all take a couple minutes to make one print. That's too slow for a larger event, but might be okay for your Rotary party. I do a fundraiser at our Rotary Christmas party and print to a Sony Snap Lab, a self laminating die sub printer that prints a 5x7 in 17 seconds. We've even done military balls with over a thousand guests Using that workhorse.
