Color Blind Test
What do you see here?

Mountains east of San Diego near Jullian.

I was with Jimmy Gekas and we both took a similar shot like this. He said it looked like a bunch of leaves.. .

Steve,

If I'm not mistaken, that's a sycamore in fall splendor. Those are tri-lobed leaves aren't they? I see green, russet reds, yellow and tannish leaves. one would think it would have dropped more of the drab colored leaves. Well Jimy has his opinion, but a bunch of leaves would have been on the ground, these are still on the tree. Or was this a trick question?

Steve, I'll bite, ....looks like a bunch of leaves to me? I'm not much good at picking up distinctive patterns, if there is one hidden here.

Paul D, you're right but the leaves come in quint lobed also.

Paul B, When you do a color blind test there is usually a number in there but no number here. I'm just trying to make that trunk go a long way with the bunch of leaves.

I didn't start out shooting trees much so I'm putting some limbs out there today. Just a bunch from what I found that day. If any of it grabs you let me know.

Lot of atmosphere between the hill and the lens. This is a peice of pano.

Last one works best for me Steve, it's got a bit more of a diffuse chaos and repetitive pattern which I like.

Yep Steve, I'm familiar with color blind tests too. In fact that was what I was trying to pick up as a certain pattern you might have seen in the first image.
You're probably too young to recall the old AAMCO commercials with veteran actor Claude Akins. But, it went something like this; "so you back out of the driveway and there it is, you look down and see what looks like a pattern of a butterfly on the pavement. Sadly it's your transmission leaking".....got a laugh out of me anyway.

I'm with Floris here on this last one, Steve. That also works for me as best out of the group.

looks like a bunch of leaves to me as well. Like Floris, I like the last one. A nice IR filter would cut right through that atmosphere, or a simulated IR effect in PS.

Wow, that is a hillside bursting with color. Who would have thunk that it was in SoCal! Looks like you and Jimmy had a fun and successful trip down there.

I got to go with the last one as well. A very colorful scene. Didn't this area burn a few years ago?

the last shot is a real winner Steve. it tends to be little more abstract.

I see exactly 4,657,327 leaves. It was a little hard to get the count with the leave movement near the top. Looks like you guys found some interesting stuff to photograph.
