1D2n, 600mm f4 is x1.4TC, 1/2002, f8, iso 400, fill flash.
Frustrating lack of light recently, so raking through some from a couple of months ago. Taken early in the morning. I have tended to ignore these, but they do have some nice markings. Comments and critique always appreciated. LARGER VERSION

Wow, I wish i had images of this quality that i could ignore. Lovely bg, sharp you could cut yourself, like it Ian.
Not a bird to be sneezed at today as I'm sure you're aware. I frequently have people come to me complaining the sparrows are gone from their gardens now. They can easily be overlooked but what they lack in looks they make up for in behaviour.
It might be the pose but this one looks to be very pale. It might just be coming out a moult. The out of focus greenery in the bottom right becomes apparent after looking at it for a while but I'd be nit picking there.
Nice study.

Never overlook the everyday as it may not be there tomorrow if history is to be learned from for sure.
Well captured and super sharp.

A beautiful shot Ian, a superb Sparrow, and the setting just makes it a really nice composition.

I'd settle for that .. Very few round here these days although there are a few pockets that seem to be increasing in numbers, if not in range.

I really like this and the BG compliments the colour of the bird very well. As has been mentioned they are often over looked but a very worthy subject imaged very well.
