Mink
Thought you'd like to see some mink photos from this morning, just happened to run into him while filming birds. I always value time with unusual creatures and we had about half an hour with this guy.

Great shots Bill. It is funny how you can focus on photographing one thing, then something else comes along and changes everything!

Wow, #s 2 and 3 are great shots! I've glimpsed these guys a few times up in Idaho, but you had a much better look than I've ever gotten.

To paraphrase one of my favorite photographic axioms that I once heard Dewitt Jones say at a seminar: If you go out to shoot pictures of birds one day, but Mother Nature is doing mink that day, then you'd better do mink! So true...

Cool shots, Bill!

I like the third one, how the mink is peeking out of the wood pile. Thanks for sharing some nice wildlife images.

Makes me chuckle, what's he eating in #2?

Great find, Bill, and really nice images. I usually never get more than a several second glimpse of these little guys.

It was great (of course), he appeared suddenly on the riverbank and we were shooting from the car so he didn't mind us being there. He ran up and down the bank and eventually started diving for fish, each time within seconds he caught a fish and brought it out on the bank to eat it. On the Fauna forum is a shot of him soaking wet.
Eventually he moved to our side of the river and we got out of the car and that was the last we saw of him. They are rally fast and active creatures so are hard to keep up with. One time before in the depth of winter I saw one showing a lot of interest in the ducks! I think when swimming they can get mistaken for muskrat and even beaver.

These are great Bill, I particularly like #2. Todd's saying is very true, and you certainly seized the moment!.

The last one looks warm and cuddly doesn't it, well check out the teeth!

The good news is that it didn't run up my pant leg!

Great shots Bill! It must have been a blast to watch him motoring around.

NIce capture. Hard to find these guys around here and then have them pose for you also.

What a weaselly little guy!

What a jewel of a find, congrats on gettings some good keepers of such a rarely seen species! I've photographed a wild mink in Alaska once, and Idaho once, but have never seen one in Colorado.

Great shots, and amazing that you got so much time with him!

I've only ever seen Mink twice; once in New Hampshire, and once very briefly in Golden Gate Canyon State Park almost a decade ago.
