Going Rogue....;-)
We had some wicked storm surf down here in North Bend today. With the exception of a quick lunch break, I literally shot huge smashing waves all day from sunrise until the park rangers at Shore Acres State Park kicked me out at closing time.

For this photo, I had a composition set up that until this shot had contained all of the waves inside of the frame. I was actually turned away, talking to a woman about photography, when she pointed behind me and gasped, "HOOOOLY S#&T!". Without even looking, I grabbed the cable release and got a few frames before it was gone. I was bummed when I looked at the LCD to find out that the wave went way outside of the frame. I'd guesstimate that there was a good 30 to 40 feet cropped off. Oh well. It was still cool. Normally when the surf gets this big its raining sideways and photography is nearly impossible. I'll take cropped waves and good light over sideways rain any time.....

Thanks for looking. :wavey:

What a ridiculously gratuitous wave. Bummer you couldnt get it all in the frame. But by no means does that photo diminish the impact that wave obviously had.

Good grief! That is POSITIVELY WICKED! Even chopped off, it's easy to fill in the rest of that monster wave with my imagination. Those people were lucky they weren't washed away. What a tremendous photo.

Awesome capture, Aaron.

I love Shore Acres - one of my favorite spots. We used to live in Bandon and Coos Bay so I know what ya mean about the raining sideways. LOL!

Again, nice one - gorgeous colors in the cliffs, too.
