I was trying to get photographs of purple sandpipers in flight on my local beach (Little Beach) in Berwick upon Tweed, Northumberland, when this fabulous little sanderling came into frame. Not much time but I managed to get the shot

Nice grab shot and well composed. Looks a tad soft on my screen but I'd still be happy to get something as good from an opportunity. Nice one.

Very nice indeed - I love that dark background

Wonderful pose on both birds.
I would have liked to see them just a tad more to the left in the frame but that's nitpicking a great image.
Well done getting them both in focus and with their wings open!

Great shot considering how fast these birds fly! Nice size comparison with the two species aswell!

Congratulations on capturing waders in flight Ron. Getting them acceptably sharp is a real achievment, indeed getting them in the frame is a real challenge.
