The Farne Islands are in North Northumberland, quite close to were I live.
During June and July I visit regularly every year, and every year I try to getter better pictures of the Atlantic Puffin. This is the picture I prefer this year
I cant wait for next year

Classic view of this species at the Farnes. Not easy to achieve this composition with such a fast moving subject, so congrats if this is full-frame.
The bird is moving away from the camera slightly which reduces the impact a little and, as with a lot of the shots from the Farnes, the light is harsh due to the restricted times of the day access is available. While the sunlight helps with the shutter speed the resultant contrast can be awkward to control.
Cheers,
Chris

Great shot !
Maybe take a little off the left so the bird is going "into " the shot more.
Good one though.

Agree with above comments. As regards Chris comment about the contrasty conditions I (having picked up from reading some previous posts by John Robinson) now turn the contrast control on the camera right down and then adjust accordingly.in post production.
The bird is well caught and the rich colour of the sea enhances the image as does the strip of ground which effectively 'ties' the subject to its environment at that particular time of year.

I can echo the comments regarding the contrast but I think they have been handled very well here with good tonality from blacks to whites. Does the BG make it look as though the horizon is slanted..? Doesn't really matter as the diagonals give a sense of movement too. Nice work.

Flight shots always do it for me and this is no exception. What a great capture.
Great flight shot and love the sandeels, I also find the dark blue background very nice and the green at the base makes it even stronger.
