My first trip to Utah: 72 hours, 1400 miles, 3 NPs, 2 SPs, and I even managed to sleep from time to time! Due to it being my first trip, I had to join the ranks of the photoshopperazzi and hit some of the icons, but I did manage to get out on the Grand Staircase-Escalante and also checked out Goblin Valley. Sorry for the offsite link, but here's a few of the pics that I've gone through thus far. I was working pretty quickly in post since these were gonna be compressed for flickr anyway (quality of the Pano really suffered), so take it easy on me, but any C&C is welcome.

I saw a lot of really solid images in that collection, Jared. Great stuff from Goblin Valley, especially. It's a difficult location to photograph well but you succeeded. Congrats!

Looks good to me! You sure packed in a lot of sites in just 3 days.
Hopefully you'll get much more time to revisit in the future.

Some really nice images in that collection, you certainly did pack in a lot in 72 hrs!!. I like the shot with your shadow .

That's what you call 72 hours well spent! I really like the DHP pano and the fourth slot canyon shot.

Great set!! I'd be proud to have these in my collection. The self shadow-portrait is brilliant! I might "borrow" that idea once I knock off 50 or 60 pounds.
Delicate with the moon is a fave along with #2 and the star trails, that sky color is just great. And good tonal range in the slot canyon image. BTW, how difficult is it to wrangle a tripod in there? I haven't been to one yet so I have no idea how wide those are.

Jared, you have some excellent work to show for your efforts.
Well done, nice collection, esp. the patterns in the slots and little goblins.

I'm surprised you had time to sleep! A very nice collection from what had to be a fun trip.

Just what I was thinking, are you sure you slept?
Nice!

Appreciate the feedback all! Who has time to sleep w/ vistas like these? If there were no clouds at night, I would literally set up a long exposure with my timer, sleep for a couple hours, then off to the next spot. Whirlwind tours can be productive, but it's also nice to take your time with places and let your eyes discover the more subtle aspects.
Paul, those slots are NARROW! I seriously wonder who the first person was to wedge themselves in there and find those beautiful striations waiting for them? Just do research and be prepared-I was traveling solo (not advised BTW) so didn't want to take too many chances, but definitely be prepared for waist deep standing pools of frigid water (chest waders make a huge difference), chimneying through 6-10" passageways, and don't think you'll be taking all your gear in there unless you have some help. I had to drop off my gear halfway through the canyon and travel with one lens and my tripod into the actual slot. Setting up a tripod was challenging to say the least, but necessary to get some long exposures with a enough DOF. Email me if you want more details, but be prepared and always watch the weather forecast first! Thanks again...

Nice work and way to cram it all in.
