Kentish Plover
I was on holiday in Mallorca in October. I visited the brilliant S'Alberfura Reserve in the north of the island. This is were I saw the superb Kentish Plover, what a brilliant little wader this is, full of character, the locals also call it the Snowy Plover.

I got a few pictures of it but I think this one is may favorite

Its a good record shot, but somethig strange appears to have happened with the processing especially if it is a digital image rather than a scanned slide.

I am guessing by the overall brightness and hallowing of the vegetation and the remnant shadow under the bird it was taken at middayish under very harsh lighting conditions. It just looks over processed (excessive shadow recovery tool?) and as a result something strange has happened to your colour balance. I can't quite put my finger on what is wrong as all the channels are clipped, but the image just looks strange and unnnatural on my screen

As Mike says - was this a major crop, or taken with a converter ?

Ron, I think this is one of those posts where very few comments will appear. Mike seems to have hit the nail on the head in that there is a strange appearance to this which defies explanation (well it defies me anyway!). As a result I suspect it will have the same effect on other viewers and hence the paucity of replies. What I can say is I'm not too keen on the viewpoint as the bird is looking a bit bandy legged
Cheers
Robert

I'm with the others on this one Ron. Not sure what has caused the artefacts, but I'm sure it would be worth a re-work. Posting the techs might give us a clue. By the way, I emailed you a few days ago, but it wasn't delivered - I noticed it happened to someone else too, so not sure if there is a problem with it?

I'm guessing that the faults lie in the processing or post processing work plus maybe a heavy crop. A good shot of the bird though.

The bird looks so fragile with those legs, and they appear to be a very long way apart.

It certainly is a little beauty despite the nits already mentioned.
