Hi all- new member, Ist time post- check my Bio out at Introduce Yourself topic. Rod Chandler and I were in the San Juans for fall colors when "The storm" blew in. Timing was right for us as we were able to get some good fall colors before the leaves blew off. This image was taken on Owl Creek Pass stream. The abstract ice formation caught my eye. Comments welcome.
Hey Bob, Welcome on board.
Very nice ice. This one might make a very interesting B&W.
Great to see your work on NPN.

Welcome to NPN Bob! Great image, I might even be tempted to crop off some of the bottom to eliminate the leaf to take away all context.

Welcome Bob. Great ice abstract. I also think the splotch of color from the leaf is a distraction. But instead of cropping, you might just consider desaturating the yellow.

Owl creek pass repost- Couple of the guys mentioned that the leaf distracts from the abstract image- I agree. Does this work better?

Welcome, and just to muddle things up a bit, I think the leaf adds some extra interest a little depth to the image.

Hi Bob,
Welcome to the forum! Very nice image. I can't decide whether I like the 1st or the 2nd one better. Although the leaf can be distracting, I sort of agree with what Don said: I think the leaf does make the image more interesting. On the other hand, the repost looks "cleaner." They are both great shots.
Welcome! Both are great images, though #1 is more interesting to me.

Welcome, Bob! I like the 'idea' of the leaf, and if it were more well-defined, I'd definitely keep it. As is, it's more a blur of color than a discernible subject, and for me it distracts from the clearly stronger part of the image.
