1D2n, 600mm f4 is, 1/3,200s, f5, iso 400. Sun just breaking over Perthshire mountain.
Now I just wish he had a fish. I also would have liked a little cloud in the sky, but shouldn't complain as we've had rather too much lately! Taken earlier this summer. LARGER VERSION

Ian
Classic example of what this forum is going through. In my mind a superb image, and at least 24 viewers can't be bothered to comment.
I think this is one of the best Osprey images of the species I have seen.
What do people want for goodness sake ?? !

Like it lots. Great pose and well exposed. Not very easy when they open their wings like this. Well done and great bird. Wish we had some more of these over here in cheese land.

Smashing shot Ian and the contrasts and DOF spot on. Presumably just coming in to land.

Agree with John Ian - one of the best osprey shots I've seen in many a long while - light, pose and comp are all great - a shot I wish I had that's for certain...
Top job..

Great shot, Ian. Looks more like Florida than northern Scotland!

One of your best, Ian, but I think you can bring a bit more detail out of this as it is a bit contrasty as posted. Try using shadows/highlights to darken the highlights and reduce the shadows, then try dropping the contrast a bit. This is a superb osprey shot and well worth a bit of extra time.

Sometimes the lighting, the bird, everything comes together. This would seem to be one of those shots.
A real beauty.

Really great pose, Ian. I'm totally envious that you managed to get a shot like this"at the hover" and in those lighting conditions in Scotland this year! I slightly agree with David's comment about the contrast but I hope it doesn't take away the Wow factor if you do as he suggests.

A bit late to the party on this one, so not much to add, except that you should be proud of that image - stunning!
