Dragonflies (and repost)
I don't do much macro/close up work, but I couldn't resist this. One of those shots where you take a pic, move closer and take another, etc. They were oblivious to me, allowing me to get within a couple of metres. Shot in jpg some time back.

All C&C welcome.

Olympus E500 with 150/F4.5. 1/160th sec at F4.5, EV 0. FF, HH.

I think they had other things on their minds, Mike

A very nice shot, but I do think it is crying out for a vertical crop as there is a lot of space both right and left that adds little to the image.

Thanks David.

Again, it takes someone else to point out how to improve my pics. :toast:

Hi Mike

very nice shot made better by the vertical crop :toast:

Backgrounds a bit messy though

Mike - is this with the kit zoom lens?

If so the sharpness and OOF bokah rendering is extremely good

Yes Mike it was the kit lens.

I only replaced the camera and went to Nikon because I was limited in what lenses I could get to go with my growing interest in photographing wildlife - not because the results at that point weren't good. :toast:

That's much better Mike, and much better detail on the subjects now.

Olympus would have been my choice if Sigma weren't around.  Second one for me as I like them BIF, but both excellent images.

That second one is much improved and helps to remove some of the background distractions. I like the angle that you have taken this from.

The vertical crop really makes this good IMO. Kewl.
