Water vole
Hi All

What a difference a day makes; yesterday's beautiful light has been replaced by unrelenting grey gloom here in the East Midlands.

Normally I'd shrug it off but periodic glances through the window reveal regular berry-eating visits to the hawthorn hedgerow outside our house by redwing, blackbird, fieldfare and the occasional blackcap. All within 500 - 1000 mm range too - very frustrating.

Still, as you can see from my post here, yesterday was more fruitful, pardon the pun (and much less frustrating than travelling on the M1 at 12 MPH for hours!!). I took a different approach than that seen in Guy's earlier post and went for the 'smaller in the frame' option.

C&C about the composition (and anything else), please.

Cheers,
Chris

Traffic jams ? What are they ?

I really like the symmetry of this one.

Chris,

Love it, in fact for me, this is one of the best from what has to be one of the better known locations... Can not really find fault.

You obviously haven't had to negotiate the biggest car park in europe (M25)...

Chris I really like this, as I feel the subject has both, room to breathe and being off set to one side works well. To have a 'mirror image has added that 'tick'. However, I trust we now don't have a raft of WV shots, as it's really good to see 'DIVERSITY' of subject on the Forum. :toast: :toast:

Hi Chris,

Interesting to see your take as well as Guy's. The composition is nice and the vegetation doesn't overpower the subject.

I'm attracted to the three blocks giving the image a good 'back-bone'. Well seen and handled.

Cheers,

Chris

Must be feeding well as it looks very rotund .

Thanks All

A cracking site with cracking animals.

Nick: They are feeding very well - the vole is actally stuck because it is too fat! (Joke)
Chris: Good to meet you - interesting comment about the 'back-bone'.
Guy: Thanks. Both images have equal merit; I wanted to see if a slightly different approach would work.

Cheers,
Chris

Nice piece of work. Really enjoying the reflections and the positioning within the overall photo. The light is pretty sweet too.

Hi Chris
All spot on for me mate, composition, habitat, ridiculous that this place is only 2 miles from my house and I haven't worked with the voles there for years. Good work fella
