I know a lot of RMNPers, including me, adore this place. Summit County has acquired the gold mine property high up in the basin and will protect it as open space. When I was up there last summer, I encountered a locked gate right below the oft-photographed cabins right past timberline. Maybe the county will either remove the gate or provide enough room to park a couple of cars.

Details HERE.

In celebration, howzabout we post some pics of Mayflower Gulch/Boston townsite? I'll put some up once I'm back to my desktop pc.

Thats good news, one time I actually mountained goated my way up the hillside to the building that is barely hanging on to the rock. Pretty sweet views from there.

Maybe the county will grade the road up there a little. It was getting pretty rough recently.

Good news. In the spirit of the thread, I'll post a couple images from different seasons. Here's winter.

Excellent shots, Joshua, and that is great news, TC. Thank you for bringing the good news. Here's one I took a long time ago.

Probably my favorite spot in Summit County. Great sunsets if you hit it right. A few shots from the last few years both with film and digital.

Very timely, Todd.. today I printed a 20x30 of this for a corporate order. Off- camera, gold reflector held by CAZ ;-)

Truly a special place, worth protecting.

Very, very good news. I am actually in my Mayflower Gulch files from 2006, as I overhaul my Lightroom database. Here's one just processed (compression is killing it though) ...

Good news indeed! Hopefully the road will get a little rougher
