Grey phalarope
This was the result of another attempt to photograph snow buntings. As I had never even seen a grey phalarope until yesterday I consider it a reasonable alternative. It was feeding in a dyke, with fairly steep sides, but I managed to get down at one point and this shot represents about the lowest possible POV.

The buff collar, just visible, marks this as a first year bird, who seems to have got a little lost on migration.

Very nice and detailed shot. The different water colours really add to the appeal.

Beautiful shot David  lovely colours in the water

No nits from me apart from the very minor one that its seems to have a bit of a halo under the beak

You are right, Ian, and it is on the unprocessed original as well, so I can't even make my usual excuse about compression.

A great richness of colour in both the bird and the water.

Nice shot David. Hopefully you'll get the snowbuntings as well. :toast:

I really can't see a halo, and not a bird I would recognise so be really happy to get a decent shot, as this is. Not common in our neck of the woods!

Well done managed to capture 1 of the approx 200 seen in this country most being juveniles in Autumn. You have managed to capture all the detail of the first winter bird excelent capture.
