Marble Sculpture
Been a while since I posted here... much of the blame would be that I didn't get to shoot for the 2nd half of october or first half of november... but I've cured that now

Here's an abstract I'm on the fence with from a hike in one of Death Valley's little hiked canyons. I use "hike" loosely... it was more of a scramble up and around the 50-odd dry falls. I was drawn to the smoothly polished rock (is it indeed marble?) and the sharp edge of the dry fall, along with all the little textures. Is it too simple, does it hold your attention? Thanks for your thoughts!

This definitely holds my attention. I might favor a crop off the bottom, as my eye gets a little lost in the darkness but I like the color, patterns and abstract comp of the overall image.

Floris, this will make a very nice print IMO. A very interesting abstract.

I like it. Particularly because I'm not entirely sure of what shapes and dimensions I'm looking at. It's hard to tell if I'm looking at a knife-like edge protruding toward me or a deep wedge receding away. Then the brighter swirls and lines appear to be slightly separated from the bluer tones as if in another layer. Well seen!

Looks like a crack with some claw marks going across it. Simple works!

Floris,

I agree with Harley; this does hold my attention, and a slight crop from the bottom would work well. Also, you might consider burning down the squarish light are at top. The color looks great.

I can't tell if this is marble without seeing a sample or being there, but it does look like it.

I like rocks, so I find this very appealing. Nice work!

Floris,

With your title the images reminds me of the legs of a massive statue, and I like the patterns of the little brigth vienlets in the rocks. Good catch.
