Have been able to go out more on specific guided tours that are given at the station, and they've been beautiful days...no gloves needed most of time!

Pressure Ridges that form near Scott Base...the Kiwi Station about two miles from MacTown...they form from sea ice moving with the tides...and don't stick around all summer as it gets warmer.

it was fantastic to walk along with Mt. Erebus (the world's most southern active volcano) in the background.

Mt. Erebus...it's active...see the plume?

Then another day...penguins!!! There is nothing like seeing these in their habitat...they aren't afraid of humans and are very curious, then flop on their bellies and move on.

Cynthia, these are fabulous, I like the penguins especially but the ice is amazing, can't imagine Antarctica without gloves!

Great set, Cynthia. Those pressure ridges and penguins create some wonderful photo ops.

That ice cave is spectacular! And I can understand why your snowscape favorite is your favorite, love the lines and depth to it! Adelie's get my vote for the cutest penguin, their eye ring gives them a look like they are in constant wonderment and curious of their surroundings.
