Sunday was kestrel day for me, two helpful individuals in the space of half an hour. I'm still busy processing one, the second was this female who I came across when she was eating a small meal. I've no idea what it was, but it was gone in two bites. I have shots of her with the head sideways on, but I do like this direct, angry stare. It says "Who are you to disturb my Lunch?".

A nice result at a low shutter speed David, that look could kill! Unusual to capture them on the ground like this.

Now that is what I call 'eye contact' - nice one!

Nicely captured David in some poor light it would seem. I think I would have cleaned up the oof grass tussocks in the top right of the image and maybe the grass stems in front of the bird but an interesting and well captured shot nonetheless.

It's not unusual to see these on the ground at Elmley certainly. I spent a whole day there recently, and most of the better shots I got were of these birds on the ground or on clods of soil perhaps 1 foot higher than the surroundings.
She really doesn't look happy to see you, does she?
