Death Valley National Park - California

The wife and I were in Las Vegas last month visiting some family and decided to make a visit to Death Valley NP. Since it was our first visit to the park and we only had a day to do it, we decided to just hit all the typical highpoints. When we arrived at Zabriskie Point, it was only partly cloudy. This was a nice change from the near constant overcast we had the rest of the time we were out there. The light wasn't wonderful, but I didn't care. It was nice just to experience the place for the first time. This is a stitch of two images. I've included a link to a larger verion.

Nikon D200, 28-105mm lens, circular polarizer

Looks like a fascinating place. No wonder so many go there to shoot it. Your shot is a very good comp and the stitch looks good, too. I would have shot it no matter the light, too.

Doug, I agree with Morris. I lived in Las Vegas and visited DVNP frequently. It is a great place.

I don't think the light's bad here. It's warm and at a low enough angle to bring out some texture and make the scene three-dimensional. Not every shot needs to be bathed in liquid honey or blood-red sunset. I like this one better than most I've seen from the location.

Nice job on the pano, Doug. There's a lot to look at here. This is one of those places on my list.
