This is an image I made this past August near Sonora Pass on a trip with Reno DiTullio. This liitle spot, that Lon will recognize, is surrounded by the waters of the creek. Only during high summer, when the water recedes, do these flowers pop.

I believe the flowers are a Coreopsis, but I'm not sure. If anyone can ID them for me I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Your thoughts are always appreciated.

I like this, Preston. It is a simple, pretty little scene that really shows summertime in the Sierra. It is not always about the grand vista, but great spots one finds wandering around the mountains.

p.s. The web presentation is spot-on!!

Excellent natural look, feel, & appeal here, Preston. It must be a good one, taken on my birthday...

Very Nice Preston. I like it. These kinds of shots must look great on prints with all those incredible details. If I have to nit pick, I may suggest that there is a slight but noticeable cyan cast.

Peaceful and fresh scene Preston, nice find!

Sure looks like one of the many species of Coreopsis. I'm more used the large ones out here and on the Channel Islands.

I like the way the highlights shine on the rocks here Preston.

Thanks for your comments, everyone!

Does anyone else see the cyan cast that Debjit commented upon? I am colorblind to certain very light shades of green/cyan, so I can't tell if there is a color cast!

Steve: Thanks for the ID. I also had confirmation at the LF site.

Have a grand day, all!

It doesn't look cyan to my old eyes. Nice image, Preston.

After being in New Zealand for the last month there's a lot to catch up on here. I remember this location, Preston, right below our camp site, well done :toast: I attached the pic to show Preston in his "element", a happy guy :jump:

Nice image, Reno!! Looking good, Mr. Birdwell.

What is that funny looking camera with the plastic thing sticking out of the top? Does it have Live View?

Well composed. This strikes a very nice balance between all the elements (rocks, water and vegetation). I opened it up in PS and it looks like there's a bit more green in the color channels, but that doesn't necessarily effect the image for me. I might add a little magenta to counter that if you wanted, but this works for me as presented. Good stuff!

Hey Reno! Good to see back in the 'North 40'! Thanks for posting the shot of me. I don't look so good, but the image is great! :

Harley, that's called a 'View Camera'. One can have a great 'view' with one of these. That funny plastic thing is my coostum-made film live view holder with six speeds forward and dual reversing fine tuner. I thought you knew that! Sheesh!

Thanks for the thoughts, folks.

Well,

And I thought this was my special spot... and you shared it with Reno? I'm hurt. But since he got such a great shot of you on the creek, I guess I'll let it go...

Lovely image Preston. It does look awfully familiar for some reason. As far as a color cast, I do see a bit of blue/cyan in the top rock and a little in the lighter rock left of the plant, but it's not a global thing and very subtle and minor if you ask me. The coolness of the stones at the bottom look natural to me.

Also looks like the little blip you had with compression is no longer apparent. Image looks great.
