Grass snake portrait
A large female that I encountered back in 2007 whilst undertaking ecological surveys at a local school. She was basking quite open one morning and I could have done a rain dance near her and she wouldn't have moved.. I didn't  but lay nearby and spent some time getting some intimate shots.

Kind regards,

Brett

Is that your reflection I can see in her eye? Nice, almost 3D, feel to the shape of the head here.

Excellent portrait, and the composition is spot on, nice eye level perspective too, and great oof greenery behind. A splendid shot.

Works really well Brett, especially with the scales in focus below the head :toast:

Beautiful shot Brett. :toast:

I hope to spend some time with these (and you) next spring. If the shots from my last visit are anything to go by I'm in for a treat. :wavey:

It's a good job you didn't do the rain dance, we've had enough precipitation lately, thankyou   An excellent BIF close up, .

Very envious Brett, not managed to even spot on this year, let alone photograph one.

Nice portrait, and that eye is everything :wavey:
