Here's one from about a month ago. I hiked to upper Spearhead basin in Rocky Mountain National Park for a sunrise and instead, received a nice snowstorm. I got intimate with a slab of granite, wedged myself into a nook and fell asleep for an hour. Woke up to a weak sunrise but interesting light. Its a shot of one of my favorite peaks in the park, The Spearhead. If you get the chance to climb this sucker, do it, the summit block is probably the most exposed summit in all of the park, plus the 360 view is to die for. I have about 15 different versions of this comp, all in B/W, and this one seems nice.

Great shot! I like the inclusion of the pine trees at the bottom, they give a nice sense of scale. I like the first shot a little more than the second because of the grander scale and the better sense of the place.

I like the in your face second one. Those mean clouds are cool. Very impressive!

Kane, British understatement, I was thinking wow that looks cold and how the image really reflects the mood. Plus you sounded like it was a huge challenge just being there. Well done.

Ditto what Jesse said. Very moody and dramatic mountain scene!

Excellent work. Man it looks bitter cold in these shots too.

Really like the foreboding mood!

Nice shooting on both of these, Kane. I favor the first one because of the focus on The Spearhead; feels more isolated, desolate, foreboding... all of which works well with the frigid feel. Nice work!

Thanks everyone for te nice comments. That Spearhead Basin area is a landscape photographers dream. If I can get good shots in those crummy conditions, that says alot.
I was up in that basin for 8 hours that day. I think it too me maybe 2.5 hours to get there. Add it all up, 13 hours in Glacier Gorge. All my good shots showed up in a 10 minute period. It was all worth it.
Here's one more. Its in Sepia, let me know if it works.
