Costa Rican Leaf Frog
This is a Green Leaf Frog, captured last week in the Costa Rican Rainforest. (I have bug bite welts around my ankles to prove it~~ :)
Since I'm not familiar with all the hazzards in the Rainforest I hired a local Tico guide to help me find some interesting things to photograph with my Sigma 150mm f2.8 Macro lens. We came across a few of these beauties and quite a few other very interesting insect species while hiking through the forest. (including the bugs that liked what they found at the tops of my socks.)
Nikon D200, a cabled SB600 flash on a home built flash bracket with a small ball-head for macro, and a lightweight monopod.
The flash rig needs some tweaking but worked rather well. I was able to position the flash at or near the front of the lens and adjust it
to different angles an heights. I'd like to set this up for two SB600's the next time I go out. I considered getting two SB200s or the standard dual flash setup, but wanted to save a bundle and have another more powerful flash unit as well.
When I get this perfected, I'll share the results.
Anyone know of a divice where I can stack mount two cables on my hotshoe?? If I can find something like this, I'll have the perfect flash setup, and be able to use it with more off camera flashes for other types of field photography. This rig is heavy, but the monopod was a big help.
Comments are welcome...

Nice shot, Dave. The frog looks like it could use a good meal, and there is something that doesn't look quite right with the rear leg. As far as using multiple flashes, check to see if your flash system can be used as a slave. You only need one flash on the hot shoe and several others can be set to slave mode and fire when the main/hot shoe flash fires. I'd like to see a few more pics from your trip once you get them processed.

Brian,
The legs of this frog are like rubber. (Springs actually...) I noticed they did this when the frog was sitting and changed his stance or turned on the reed. I thought it was strange too, until I saw him jump!! 12 foot leaps were the norm. HE'S BUILT FOR SPEED and agility!
I have more shots of these guys in my 'Phototrekking Adventures gallery, on my website.
I had a ball chasing after them !
