Cory, this is a perfect scene to showoff the diverse landscape we all get to visit at certain times living in and traveling throughout this vast state of California. From your home location in Bishop there are many photographic opportunities to take in, typically within an hours drive, and depending on how well Cal Trans has maintained the roads of course.
This Eureka Dunes site similar to the dunes in and around DVNP are amazing locations to visit & photograph.
Not many states have such an amazing diverse terrain from all out arid dunes such as this scene, to alpine vistas, to an ocean lining the entire length of the western side. We are very luck many of these sites are under some kind of protection too.
Cory,
Congratulations on yet another cover shot. Love the shadows in this image. Really striking in B&W. Well Done!

Hey, thanks Preston and Paul for selecting my image!
@Paul: yep, lots to see in DV, and I've only been there twice and once for work. Planning on making a couple trips out there this winter with the truck/camper and jeep so we can explore the place, or a little of it! Sounds like DVNP may get some snow this week down to the valley floor, which means these dunes may get a layer of snow. If I added a layer of white snow to this image it may look like a chocolate shake w/ whip cream!

See it Here, along with a story of what drew him to make the image, and a short bio.
Many thanks to Cory, and to all CANPers for your participation!
