Tortuguero Beach in Costa Rica is some 22km long, the only way the national park rangers can watch over the turtles is by using quad bikes to patrol the shore. The daily patrols leave two deep gouge marks on the beach which to a human are nothing but to a baby Green turtle are a mountain to climb. The expression on the turtles face says it all.
I can imagine it is, and like you say the turtles expression tell a tale, an excellent natural history image that would illustrate an article nicely indeed, especially the conservation efforts undertaken...
Interesting story Calum - and has the potential to be even more engaging if you could actually show the tyre track more graphically. Would it have worked from the side with the turtle in the rut?
The low viewpoint is really good but I think it would be much stronger if it was more obvious and didn't require the words to explain it.
However that said, I'll add a hearty 'well done', because its really good to see someone spotting, and telling, the stories of man/nature that its all too easy for the rest of us to miss.

Brillant image which tell's a story and well seen and photographed
The best of the bunch for me, much prefer this POV and crop. It could do with a hint more selective USM and would clone out that white stone/pebble just below the turtle. I bet it was a nice moment
