Lovely image Major, shame about not having view of the eye but amazing background and light.

A classic Barn Owl pose, breaks a rule but here I don't think that makes any difference... perhaps makes the image more haunting, I might however lose just a bit from the top and left just to place the owl higher in the frame... it just feels that it should be nearer the top.

Hi Major
Fantastic shot, it looks like a painting and I love the unconventional pose which I think adds rather than detracts from the image. The wing position, muted light and the perfect amount of background detail to hint at the habitat without taking away from the owl. I too would crop a bit from the top but for me, only from the top. Really, really strong image.

A very nice image Major, and I like the classic pose of him looking down on dinner. Nice one.

Hello Major.

Love the feel to this and the pose captured is just right, I dont think the eye matters in this image as the Barn Owl is watching its prey.

The only nit for me would be to do something about the dark blob on the left side of the frame. I just feel it does not match the rest of the background and it wouldnt take much to remove it.

This is amazing for a wild Barn owl. I would be very pleased and I know you are.

Cracking.

This is a terrific painterly image of a barn owl, and a refreshing break from the norm...

I wonder what you'd think if you were to crop a half inch or so away from the top of the image - as so to give a feeling of the owl being at a great height?

But otherwise wonderful

Thanks for your comments everyone. I always thought that there was a certain something about this image but several times have threatened to bin it. Agree about the dark area on the left but kept the room at the top to give that view of the background trees looking whole. Thought the crop would make them look a bit chopped off so to spaek.
Cheers.

Hi Major - just caught up with this one. Nice painterly feel and tones throughout. Not too bothered about not having eye contact.
