Great northern diver part II
This time from a floating hide and the bird was coming a bit closer today. Weather still crap. Very windy and wet but I think it was worth the effort.

iso 200 1/60 sec. f/5.6 Nikon D3 - Nikon 200-400/4 and 1.4 TC.

weird picture but i can't help but like it, the colour from the fish fins is great amongst all the grey

Hi Edwin

Love everything about it from the composition to those 'red fins' which lift an already super image!

Very good indeed! (except for the fish of course)
Excellent tones, and as DK says the red lifts it.

That is just superb Edwin... the viewpoint the floating hide has given you and the overall tones in the image lift it.... Oh the comp ain't bad either...

Hi Ed
Phenomenal shot, the overcast light really adds to this image with the fins adding a punctuation of colour. You're really on fire at the moment Ed, stunning!

Oh WOW! Absolutely stunning. Grey days yes, but the splash of colour and pov make it for me. Wonderful stuff.

100% improvement on the first one - much more dynamic. Great shot.

Really outstanding! The red fins are lucky, they contrast well with the blue. :toast:

Now that's a master at work.

Turns a grey day into impressive work.

Very fine shot Edwin the combination of the greys and the red making the image eye catching.
Would be interesting to see this converted to black & white with the red fins left as is.

Bob on. Have you got a dry suit or are you waiting for the spring to be warm again?

Brilliant - nice to see a different sort of bird-shot-on-water!

Just superb, as others have already said, those red fins give it a big boost. I agree with Paul that this is one of your very best.

The best out of the two for me, with the tiny 'hint' of colour from the fin's transforming this image, the pov is very good too  :wavey:

Huge impact image - absolutely tremendous.
Love the shallow dof from the low angle that makes the subject explode from the frame.
