Another from my recent encounters with the Common or Harbour seals that reside in the nearby river estuary. They were very relaxed and the light was only available for a short period of time before the rain clouds started appearing.

Wonderful - they look like two retired colonels disturbed from their afternoon nap. Was there any particular reason you shot this in portrait rather than landscape format?

Thanks Guys,
David: As you can see there is a shadow on the LHS from adjacent seals. I like the composition of these two and wanted to isolate them from the others and that is why I chose the Portrait orientation. That and it offers more opportunity as and editorial. Also, I only had a 300mm + 2 x with me and even if I took the converter off it wouldn't have given me a focal range to include other animals to make a good composition. It's often best to think how the image might be used and by whom when it's taken and this is what I envisaged and thought about when I saw these guys.

Looks a fine image to me.
Nice to have a different backdrop to what we are used to on here.

Hi Brett
It's nice to see some common seal images from a less well known spot. I guess that getting any lower was not possible without getting wet so given the circumstances I think you have made the best of this opportunity with good eye contact from both seals.
Cheers
