now that winter is here in the Northeast,What is the proper lense and camera care for shooting in the cold temperature? should one put the equipment in the fridge before going out?
Tim,
There is no particular lens or camera for winter. Just remember just to keep them dry. Also batteries won't last as long due to the cold. I keep an extra battery or two next to body. You don't need to put equipment in the fridge. When you come back inside place the exposed equipment in a plastic garbage bag or in your photo bag to keep condensation from building up on your equipment. Keep them in there for at least one hour after going inside.

What John said, but make sure to place the camera in the bag before going inside, condensation can form pretty quick and you want to make sure it forms on the outside of the bag and not the inside. If keeping the gear in your bag you may find it takes a really long time for the temp to equalize with room temp. I've noticed that my lowepro bag actually insulates really well, takes a couple of hours for the temp to normalize. I may even use it as a cooler when I get a new bag
