Just a twist ...
Not unusually, this one had its attention grabbed by the gentle tones of the 1D shutter! Taken against the plain backdrop of a beech hedge - not sure if the it works though? Comments appreciated as always.

Works for me Dave, not sure about JR POV, LOL (sorry John). Perch & BG fine. DOF on the tail feathers doesn't worry me either.

Wonderful Dave. Nice background and head turn. But I would rather see a bit brighter background. But still very nice and the bird is well exposed.

Great shot, I think the hedge works really well shows off the birds bright colours well.

Dave I just find that perch a bit too much for my liking but its still a nice image either way.

I like the perch and the background but would prefer a slightly lower viewpoint. Otherwise very nice though.

Nice portrait of a common subject. The look over the shoulder makes the image but all the other vital ingredients are present - clean background, attractive perch and good light.

I'd be tempted to lighten the bird's face/eye region a little. No big deal though.

Cheers,
Chris

Its a different background and I think it emphasises the colours on the bird nicely, nice perch too.

Many thanks for the helpful comments. I'd not realised I was shooting upwards as much as I clearly was - fortunately there are options at this site to get a better position.

Very nice capture...great color and sharpness. The only nit might be not having a catch light in the eye. It's hard to tell at this size and res.
Great website! Beautiful work.
