Unoriginal title I know, someday I might get better at those. Anyhow this is an older image I just got around to processing. It's been giving me a hard time so maybe some fresh eyes will help.
I find it extremely difficult to find interesting compositions in these late winter scenes, especially if there is no snow on the trees. Towards the end of winter is seems most features have just been covered completely with snow.
Any opinions/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hello Jeremy, I believe that you've processed this photo to look exactly as it did on this morning, but still I think it needs a slight "pop". Other than that it's a good photo, with sharp fore and backgrounds, and you've done well finding a subject in this winterscape.

Pretty tough to find something wrong here. Just a great image. Maybe crop just a little off the bottom as the bottom left corner is just a tad soft, but that's being pretty picky.
Sweet shot!

This really works for me, Jeremy. The FG has plenty of interest in the nicely textured rocks. Sweet alpenglow, if a bit subtle. Excellent image!

I think this is a very interesting composition, and well done at that!
Two things you might try to give this some 'pop':
Try using AutoColor in PS to lose some (not all) of the strong blue cast.
And/or...
Try these settings in Unsharp Mask--
Amount-20
Radius-50
Threshold-0
This won't sharpen your image at all, but rather acts as a 'haze remover' (local contrast enhancement).
Regardless, I think this is very good. Did you snowshoe/ski into this area?

Thanks for the suggestions/compliments. Here is another version hopefully with a little more pop. (I'm still figuring out web version conversions, they always seem to come out duller than the original file) Thanks a ton for that unsharp mask tip John, I think I'll be using it a lot in the future
I did snowshoe into this location and spent the night to get this shot, I've since returned probably close to half a dozen times and have got a couple photos that I think are better, due to them being taken early in the winter and having more to work with. If I ever get around to processing them I'll post them. This one is from three years back.

ick the blues got a little neon in that one, I'll have to try again in the morning with some fresh eyes.......

I really like the light in the original image. I like it blue, since it means it's cold (I am sure it was).
My suggestion is to crop from the bottom until a square format is achieved. Thanks for sharing.
I can see now that Black Mountain looks better in the winter than in the summer with the spot light on it. I'm kind of a color nut so I like the second one. I like the snow and the rock mix in the foreground, exposure wise. The blues mixed with the warm light on the peak, you can't go wrong there. The only thing I might do is bring the warm light up a bit on the hills in front of Black Mountain. Great image Jeremy!

That is a really nice composition, and sweet light and exposure. If you could remove some of the blue that was enhanced in your 2nd version then that one I would prefer over the first. Great work!.

Great comp, Jeremy. I love the way the light on the peak contrasts with the blue of the snow. I'll 2nd Nick's comment.

Excellent comp and the rework pops now. Good work!

I really like the rework shot. Perfect color for the conditions. Well done.

That peak looks awesome, as does the light on it. I'd love to see your other photos that you mentioned.
I think I'm going to end up doing a sort of a blend of the two, the blues from the first and the rest from the second. Thanks for all the help suggestions. Really appreciate it.
Dean I think your right about the light, from my experience it starts getting some pretty nice light on it starting in late August. I don't know how many times I've camped out up there, but I always seem to get skunked in the clouds department. Hopefully next summer.....
Jack I'm hoping to get around to processing the others soon here, I'll be sure to post them when I do. Looks like you've been having a fun early snowboarding season down there, wish I could have gotten that Splitboard but my car decided to go out on me so that's on hold for a while...
