Dawn Over the Inyos
There's nothing like holding a cup of coffee bought at the 24 hour Mobil in Lone Pine with your hands with your one camera on the tripod all set up waiting for the Alpenglow on Mt. Whitney. And the other hanging around you neck on it's strap for a handheld chance to catch any other images. As the sun slowy creeps across the land they start happening all around you. It starts with the glow of the rising sun lighting up the sky over the Inyo's as in this image Olympus E-500

The colors here are lovely,Paul. How were you able to get as much detil in the FG
as you got without having the sky blow out? Are really like this.

I did that in photdshop elements by looping the fore ground and just lightening and contrasting it up slightly. I'll admit that the comments and the will to make my images better by belonging to this website and the CANP has made my photography so much better for which all of you I thank. Thanks for you comment Robert.

Very nice shot, Paul. The foreground still looks a little dark, but it works. Compositionally, you might have looked for a slightly higher vantage point so that the top of the hill on the right did not break the line of the Inyo Mountains. I realize this may not have been possible, though. The color of the sky and the detail there, is excellent. This image has nice drama to it!

Good job!

Awesome sky Paul! Great job in being prepared for the possibilities. Not a nit, but I would recommend cropping out about half the foreground and keeping the emphasis on the gorgeous sunrise sky. Way to keep your head on a swivel... :-)

Wow, great popping sky! I would echo Lon's crop suggestion. Very pretty image.

That is a wild sky Paul. It's always nice to something like that.

Great sky and I always like the weathered granite boulders of the Hills.

My what a lovely morning, nice catch!

Love that sky... nice catch! As Preston said, the overlapping ridgelines would be my only minor nit to an otherwise very nice image. I know what you mean about the light happening all around you in that area. It can be the best 15 minutes of sunrise anywhere to be found.
