Horseshoe Storm
Another BW conversion from Horseshoe. 2 exposures. I forgot my lightning trigger while I was down at the canyon and had to shoot the lightning from the storm from on top of the hill at Horseshoe

Dramatic capture. B&W works for this one.

Wow, sweet shot. I think I would like to see the color version as well.

Another nice conversion, Klaus. I'm also curious about the color version.

From the standpoint of composition, have you considered cropping a bit from the bottom?
The large area of sandstone in the lower right just doesn't hold much interest for me.

Pretty awesome, that lightning bolt is killer.

Um, did you add either the lightning bolt or the cloud glow around the top of it? Inquiring minds need to know! BTW, I don't think it needs any crop off the bottom, I love the texture and personality of the FG rock.

Boy, you've got a nice series going!

I'm in the "crop a little off the bottom" camp as well. The lightning almost looks fake, as Todd alludes to -- I'm not saying it is, just that someone might assume that. If it's added, I'd get rid of it - the image is awesome without it. If it's actually part of the capture, I wonder if the glow around it could be toned down? Otherwise you may find yourself explaining over and over that it's real and not fake.

WOW!!! This is a great shot and a nice conversion too. :toast:

Beautiful and dramatic, Klaus! I love your B&W conversion.

This is certainly a nice BW conversion, but I'm also curious to see the color. I like the textures in the lower rocks, but cropping them would put a little more emphasis on the Bend and the bolt. It works either way, IMO, but you'll have to chose depending what elements of the image you want to focus more on.

I'm not big on the rocks obscuring the bend, but I've never been there and don't know the framing options. The BW conversion, however is STELLAR! This has got to be a wicked color shot!

Two thumbs up on this one. Put me in the comp is perfect camp-it does not need any cropping at all.

I would love to see the color version!

Full disclosure on the added lightning bolt here.

Why no such disclosure here?

Nice shot Klaus. Well placed lightening bolt, but why weren't you over photographing Antelope Canyon?

I like the composition, the crop, the B&W conversion, the texture of the image. Everything but the lightning bolt. I would dump it because it is distracting in an otherwise outstanding image.

Great image that doesn't need the bolt.

Great B+W conversion. The image in its natural form without the bolt is a winner in itself.

Very very nice work...love the details in the foreground and the bolt... excellent job of conversion too... :toast:

Very impressive take. A lot of drama, from foreground to background. Not sure if cropping increases the effect, or ruins it. I agree with any sentiments about the image working well without the bolt - but it's your art.

Excellent comp and conversion with a LOT of drama. Doesn't need the bolt as it does look like it was added.

Stunning image! Love the BW and those clouds are very dramatic.

Thanks so much everyone. There were 2 exposures on this shot a few minutes apart.
